You were worried about the thumb-print, but really - it's hardly noticeable. Charcoal is fun to use - if a bit inclined to fly everywhere - but have you ever tried the Mars Lumograph 8B pencil ? Lovely deep, waxy surface, very strong blacks, but smudge-resistant.

Hi Robert, thanks for your comment. I haven't tried Mars Lumograph 8B pencil, but will go looking for them. I am more than happy to explore the different options as - as a beginner - I still need to kind of find my own style. 🙂
