Mother’s Day Daffs. Exploring oils again

I am not an oil painter, Diana, but I love it anyway.

It's lovely and light. Love it Diana.

I like it, especially the way you've done the jug.

Really nice Diana

A lovely painting Diana the vase is particularly good.

I think it's very good Diana. I like the way the glass vase is almost the star of the piece and how you've treated the background

You are all go supportive in your ongoing interest. Trying different mediums gives a tremendous insight into the skills of other artists.

Stunning piece, Diana! Excellent use of edges and wonderful, lively brushwork.

Well it’s a delightful little oil study, not my subject matter as you know. As in all painting Diane, tonal value is critical, (you know this of course), you could take it a stage further in this respect, perhaps work on the background! As I mentioned a day or two ago, well done on your feature in TA. Excellent read and insight into your methods. I’ve finished my four part series now, four more scheduled for early next year.

I too enjoyed your article in TA. In this one, I'm a bit confused as to the direction of the light as there are shadows in three directions. There is a blue tinge to the glass (possibly paynes grey) but where is this coming from in the background? Hope this helps.

I like the colours, reflections, and the lovely glass jug,

Thank you so much Alan and Linda. Really helpful. Looking at it today , aperture from thinking ‘what a ** mess’ I hadn’t a clue what to do with the background which certainly isn’t beneficial. The light was really flat and pretty uninspiring . I liked my sketch and then it went downhill 😂. I really appreciate everyone’s works of encouragement. Need to read your articles a few times Alan. Thanks for your feedback about mine. Look forward to seeing more Alan
