David this is super. It makes me want to travel that road and see what's beyond! Looking at your other pictures and drawings you have a great skill in handling perspective. Lovely!

Very good, and have walked by there a few times.

Lovely painting David, you have managed to obtain some beautiful greens

Thank you all, my purpose in painting is to capture how it felt to be there, and that's worked for at least two of you. It's a track best travelled on foot or in a Land Rover, Tessa, and it leads to Wrynose Pass, not for the faint-hearted. The walk around Little Langdale Tarn is easy though with wonderful views. I never used to use a tube green until I tried W&N Green Gold. It's a natural sunny green and is the base for grass, trees, walls and buildings, in mixes with Ultramarine, Burnt Sienna and Winsor Yellow.

We visited the Lakes on a brief day visit last week and I was struck, as always, by the magnificent lighting on the fells. Soon after returning home, I chose one of my hundreds of Lakes photos "to be painted one day" and did this one. The photo was a dull winter scene, taken purely for the composition, but it's painted with the memory of last week's lighting.
