These are beautiful sketches, David. The teacher I go to uses the quick sketches to help folk get loosened up before doing the longer sketches - we usually do the very quick ones on newsprint - so doesn't matter if they are not great. They do become easier to do the more you do! Hope you enjoy your classes. :)

Pencil sketches of Natsumi, These are the longer sketches (20 minutes x 2 and 30mins) The 1 minute sketches I really struggled with and it doesn't sit well with me. The Bargue course was great for a cognative measured approach but under time pressire there is no time to check proportions or work 8n the manner I have grown accustomed to. It's a different skill. I was glad that the model was excellent, I guess if I attend regularly I will have to take the rough with the smooth.

Inspired by an artist friend I came back to paint a bit at the end of 2017. At the moment I am enjoying it and maybe because I have the patience to look more than I once did I am finding it easier and more enjoyable to actually produce a likeness.
