Colin Steed
Biography
Website: colinsteedart.com I started painting as a hobby back in the 1970's experimenting with all mediums. After a while I found watercolour and most recently Acrylic, suited my way of doing things. It's clean to use, dries quickly and with a small amount of materials you can capture a scene in minutes. Over the years my hobby became a passion and when I moved to Galleywood in 1983 I joined the Galleywood Art Club. After a while I was asked to give a demonstration to the club. I was then encouraged by the club to run a course. In1998, after working in engineering for twenty two years,I decided to 'take the plunge' and turn professional. With a lot of hard work and the help of my wife Linda the courses became very popular with 120 painters attending weekly classes. My paintings sold in exhibitions and galleries and I gave demonstrations to clubs and societies. I have lead many painting holidays to France and Spain and tutor for the F.S.C at Flatford Mill. I write tutorial articles for Leisure Painter and have contributed art work for The Hylands House History and Guide booklet.
