A loveable puppy. I'm a bit confused about the direction of light. Are there two sources?

Hi Grahame, Thanks for your comments. Yes, he's painted from a photograph where he's on someones lap with the main light being high, right and behind, but also being lit by a window infront. This made very little shadow to work with, especially as he's so white. By making the background so dark I think I may have made the fella look a little too glaring, but it doesn't look quite so harsh in real life. Paint on.

Hi Chris, My daughter has just recently bought a golden retriever puppy. Your painting captures her puppie's expression in an amazing way. Thank you for your positive and encouraging comment on my "Cassino Waterlilies." You have such a generous and positive influence on so many of the artists. Thank you for that. Marashene.

Thanks Marashene, I can't resist those puppy eyes. Just had to paint this one. Catch ya.

Superb painting Chris. Not easy painting a white dog and not falling into the trap of over-using the white. That puppy fat fluffy texture of the dog comes thru in the painting really well. Nice one!

Stunning painting.

Thanks Retha, I'm painting a black lab at the mo actually. Paint on mate.

Hi Chris, thank you for your comments on my Panda. I struggled to decide which of your paintings to comment on - they are all so good! I think this is my favourite though. He is just brilliant! I see what you mean about the whiskers too!

Hello Chris, we have a 1.year old black lab and when she was a puppy she did have that same stare. I think you captured such spirit in the eyes and the hues are wonderfully rendered in to show the shadow in the fur.

Beautiful! You have a very impressive portfolio. Excellent paintings.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, very much appreciated.
