Wow Carolyn. You have truly excelled yourself. This is fantastic.

Love your doggies Carolyn.

What a well executed work you have caught the expression so well. Not an easy task.

I know the velour paper is strange at first and pencil doesn’t rub out but you can cover mistakes with other layers. Soft pastels are also great for blocking in large areas. I think this dog portrait is beautiful and a testament of how well you have handled the paper, especially for the first time Carolyn.

Great. You draw dogs so well, the fur is marvelous.

Hendrix is just gorgeous Carolyn.

Thank you very much Carole, Carole, Lesley, Lewis, and Susan for your lovely comments.

Carole, I bought this on your recommendation and am looking forward to trying more pastel work. I think the adage of 'you get what you pay for' is true. Velour might be more expensive but I found it quicker to use and, as you say, mistakes can easily be rectified. I think I changed the eyes 5 times!!!

He's a lovely boy, Carolyn

Wow, this just pops out of the canvas … and those eyes, clever!

Pastel drawing on Hahnemulle velour grey paper. A commission for my friend. First time I have used this paper and, although I wasn't taken with it at first it has grown on me. I think I will use it again. I have treated myself to a sample pack of 5 different pastel papers and am working my way through them ;-)
