Thank you so much Rachel and Hilary. Oil pastels are a demanding medium but quite exciting to explore and experiment with. Although I love soft pastels they are very flimsy to store and not very good to use with chest problems. That’s the reason I’m trying to persevere with them, although it can be very challenging at times.

Thought I would attempt a portrait of one of my granddaughters in oil pastels. Love how they don’t smudge and are more portable than soft pastels, although l love the velvety feel of soft pastels. Trying hard to conquer this difficult medium but hope it will be worth it eventually. Used prisma pencils for fine details. Oil pastels on pastelmat. 12” x 16”.
