Thank you so much everyone for your lovely comments. I have to confess to the ease of using velour pastel paper. It seems to just do the work for you. Really great to use, especially for pets.

Beautiful Carole, you certainly know how to use pastel on velour. Whenever I've tried the pastel has all but fallen of when I've tried to frame the image :(

The eyes have it! The viewer is immediately drawn to thoses liquid eyes. I have little experience with pastels. I would struggle - especially with small canvas / paper. I am impressed how you managed to convey the detail on 10" x 12" paper.

I've often wanted to paint my cat but usually it ends up looking like something from outer space :). This is wonderful, you've caught the intensity of a cats gaze perfectly.
