Thanks for the nice comments. A blog is a thought, David. In brief the major part of the picture is a traditional wet in wet method but with careful thought to some hard edges which provide the necessary balance, especially in the dark foreground. The other important factor is the choice of colours (very few). Here I used raw sienna, transparent yellow, burnt sienna, Winsor blue, magenta and a little cadmium orange (so no heavy, opaque colours). Finally, I find that the best paper for this type of subject is Waterford Not, either 140lb or 200lb. Hope this helps.
