Lovely, I especially like the light shining on the water.

Beautiful sky it has that early mist look Brian, a lovely painting in itself.

Thanks, Sandra, Carole and Maureen, for dropping in to share your thoughts. appreciated. This one gave me a good idea how to proceed with the bigger version. I'll probably develop the colours some, given that this effort is rather muted. Bigger rocks should also help me to add form and contouring. Thanks again for the kind comments. Brian

What a stunning place to lose your thoughts Brian, the larger finished piece will look incredible...I can already see it! Lol

Beautifully painted Brian, I like the softness of it and such a marvellous sky.

Thank you very much, once again, for your really encouraging comments, Fiona and Margaret. It IS a very peaceful place to walk, with much of the coastal path protected and conserved by the National Trust. There's a footpath all the way along the clifftops, in fact, with a range of informative stone plaques placed by areas of interest. It's also one of the most important Kittiwake colonies in the UK.

Great painting

Just seen this, Ruth. Thanks for the thumbs up. Appreciated. Brian

This is/was going to be a sketch for a larger painting to give me a feel for the position of the respective cliffs etc. I ended up producing this small painting come sketch. It's a small oil on canvas 30 x 20cms. I took the photos myself and often walk along the clifftops on a fine day, usually nipping in to the Marsden Grotto for a swift coffee/beer. So, this is my hometown stomping ground, a place to wander and think.
