Thank you Gudrun, I have John Hoar to thank for introducing me to the use of Winsor Blue, Paynes Grey with Raw Sienna and Burnt Umber to produce a cooler effect. I think using this with strong light dark contrasts produces a great result.

I think I prefer this palette Barry probably because my preference is towards the cooler, muted palette for my own watercolours. Love the looseness and the darks.

Thank you Fiona, it's certainly a palette that I am beginning to use more and more especially when I use ink and wash.

Strong contrast in this lively work Barry. A lot of hard edges to the trees, which I would like to be softer (just my opinion of course).

Thank you for your comments Stephen. I did go for hard edge stark approach on this one, I often try several versions to see what works best so don't be surprised if another pops up at sometime in the future.
