Barry, working in watercolour has added some lovely textures to this, which work really well on the forest floor. This is a difficult subject and this is a really good result. Great light.

I have been working with a fellow member of our art group who has been painting with acrylics but wanted to have a go at watercolour. After initially covering the basics for the last few weeks we have tackled some landscapes. He brought in a painting that he felt hadn’t worked of a scene from a photo he had taken. After a discussion about the possible ways of tackling the subject in watercolour we decided on an approach and this is my version. We decided not to use masking fluid but did think if we had it would have made the initial washes easier and cleaner. I did say to him that this was a difficult subject and that we should perhaps choose some easier scenes.
