This is so loose and fresh Barry. The light in the break of rocks, right of center, is a great highlight. Congrats to you on your 2016 award. !!

Great atmosphere here Barry and I love your little figures which add that extra something. It’s been very interesting to follow your time and learning with Amanda Hyatt. She’s an excellent artist and I’ve enjoyed her recent series in The Artist.

Thank you Nancy and Tessa. I really enjoyed this one and it’s probably my favourite of the week, it’s great when all the elements click.

Really like this, especially the moody sky.

Fabulous Barry, the little figures give scale to the cliffs, wonderful brushmarks in the foreground, love it.

Simple and effective as they say, super work Barry.

Lovely loose work Barry and a great subdued palette. Nice going..

Thanks to Sandra, Carole, Alan and Jim, although it took me over a week to get all the sand out of my kit the result was well worth the trouble.

Lovely, moody work Barry, the strongly painted distant headland works very well against that stormy sky. You have obviously been inspired by your week. Funny how in the last few years Australian artists seem to have moved the watercolour scene on.

Good point Barry, perhaps it's the energetic Australian spirit that has got them noticed.

Beautifully painted Barry.

Thank you Fiona.

Well, it's a great style and you should stick with it, Barry - and I love your colours.

Top notch Barry you are good and going places. Beautiful a masterwork

Thanks to Margaret, Maureen, Dennis and Gudrun, I love receiving your comments.

Another Plein Air on Amanda Hyatt’s workshop, I was definitely doing more of my own thing on this one. That isn’t to say that she didn’t have any influence but rather I was into the subject and didn’t refer to her demo and feel this is much more my own effort than some of the others.

I started painting in 2004, I am influenced by Wesson, Seago and many of the great masters, more recently I enjoy the work of Steve Hall, John Hoar and Alvaro Castignet to name but a few. I paint in a loose style and try to simplify as I can. The medium I enjoy most is watercolour but dabble with…
