Your way too good, I have three horses of my own, so its already a winner with me, you seem able to turn your hand to most subjects, well done Andy great painting.

Just noticed the date on the painting! please tell me that you take months and not days to complete a painting?

Thanks for the kind comments Susan. It was painted over four separate days & probably took a total of 10 to 12 hours. The reason I try different subjects is because I'm a relative beginner & don't really know what style & subjects suit me. I would like to be looser in style but don't know how to achieve this. Perhaps it comes with experience.

Lovely painting Andy

You don't need to be 'looser in style' when you can paint like this, this is a bright painting full of movement and the joy of the match going on, that's all you need to consider, now get past it and move on, and do as good again!

firstly thank you for your comments on my gallery. Ive never put anything out on anything like this before and the fox was the first ever competition piece Ive put forward. anyway, I took a peek at your gallery, and although I am impressed at your current addition to the gallery, it was this one that caught my eye, well probably because im better at drawing animals than people, and a bit envious you can do both! ( great stuff) I think this image of horse power and the skill both man and horse have when joined together is well captured in this piece of work. you can feel the tension that competition generates, they are all in it together from both teams in the determination to win. your picture generates that feeling. well done Andy,

Thanks for the encouragement & advice. I am always trying to improve & with every painting I think this one will be good. I often think they are good when I've finished but after a few weeks I can see all the faults & wonder why I didn't see it before. I enjoy the process that the main thing.

Painted from a photo but I had to alter the hooves because they looked unreal. I also changed the background as I didn't want the distraction of a building.
