A Little Jar of Saffron

Comments

I adore this little jar. The shiny glass and cork are described so well as is the bit of ribbon.

Love it! Absolutely gorgeous!

Such a lovely idea Andrea. Not surprised you don’t want to open the bottle, it’s so beautiful and you have painted it exquisitely.

Thank you vey much for your lovely comment Diana. I was so pleased to re-discover this in my cupboard when I was looking for suitable food cupboard subjects to paint. A little jar of sunshine seemed a good subject to follow my earlier spring flours! I’m not sure I will ever use the contents (even though I quite like cooking now) :- 0 it’s just that the top of the cork has a little red wax seal with an initial A embossed in it - and that’s my initial too.

Thank you very much Shirley, so kind of you to post this :- )

Thank you Carole, nope just couldn’t do it! (Though I’ll better move the jar somewhere safe, incase it ends up in the dinner and the recycling one day!)

Super, beautiful reflections. I can see why you wanted to paint it.

Wonderful, everything is SO good

Thank you so much for commenting Debbie. It made a bit of a change to my previous two paintings (which were the single flour and the bunch of flours) but I think it was the change of texture from paper to glass which appealed. One of those paintings I was sorry to have to call finished and stop painting!

Thank you Heather, your compliment is very much appreciated!

Thank you so much Margaret :- ) Very kind of you.

This is such a wonderfully sweet painting, I love the way you painted the gold ribbon! Beautiful.

Thank you so much for your lovely comment Liezel, that’s very kind of you :-)

The third in my mini-series painting the contents of my kitchen cupboard! This is a little jar of Saffron given to me by my parents following their Spanish holiday some years ago. I loved the bottle so much, I didn’t want to open it to use the contents! A little jar of sunshine and a work of art in itself. Oil on postcard-sized gessobord. (Actual size of actual jar ‘in real life’ is approx 2 inches tall.) A☀️🌼
