It will be interesting to see this progress Amanda.

Looks very promising Amanda and it's very big! Can't wait to see the finished work!!

Aha, now I know how big it is and you have answered my question re underpainting. Enormous, but what fun! I hope you are revelling in this commission. I would be.

I popped back here to see how you started this piece! It is very interesting to see how each one of us prepares their canvases. I admire the fact that you are not daunted by how big this painting will be!

Sarah, I think my lack of daunt might be partly due to having painted murals on a school recently. It *is* a big subject, and I'm finding that the canvas is a good size for it.

This is a commission. I had to get the canvas made - it's 2m by 80cm. So far, I've managed to cover the front of it in bright, dribbly, thin acrylic, intended to help me place the various elements and to "kill" the whiteness. It might also show through a bit and enliven the final piece - a panoramic landscape of Porthtowan in Cornwall. Oh, and it may be an acrylic now, but it won't be by the end of the week (I hope).
