Really got drawn to this one Amanda - love the way you have achieved such effortless brush strokes

Thank you, Michael. I feel slightly churlish in pointing out that there were no brushes involved; I used a knife throughout.

No need to feel churlish - I can see that they are knife strokes and it's my error - doesn't detract from my appreciation of the painting

One of your best, I think - wonderful and convincing colour in the rocks, and the sea is nicely judged: powerful but not crashing all over the place ... what I always respond to in a painting is atmosphere, and sense of place: both of which very much present here.

Lovely painting. I agree with Robert great atmosphere and sense of place, I should know,it's my local beach!

Thank you, all - and Pamela, I'm jealous. I only get to visit every now and then, on account of having married an expat Cornishman whose family still live down that way.

Another great paintng Amanda, full of atmosphere and impact.

Full of pashion, love it.

Lovely painting with very good use of the knife.

Can't believe i have missed so many of your lovely bold paintings Amanda, but th is how this site works isn't it! Anyway this is another great one, love the cliffs, sea and beach

Thank you, Ros.

A new year, a new beach... I found an assortment of subjects at Portreath, on the north coast of Cornwall (just along from Godrevy, as it happens...). Here is the sunniest - by chance; there wasn't much sunshine on Sunday - Gull Rock and the western cliffs. Oil on canvas, 46 x 38cm
