You do inspire Alan... when I am back on my feet I shall be of ,off and away. Sometimes I think we don't look under our noses. I love my hills and woods . But often ignore the churches, the graveyards and buildings all around me. Thanks.

Lovely Alan

Gosh, that's some going Alan, four in two hours! It has given a fresh feel to this work but still retaining a good representation of the church, hope you will post the others!

Wonderful, I like your subject, unusual Alan. Radiates peace and calm.

What a marvellous painting Alan, so neat and accurate but free at the same time. Love the palette too!

As always a masterpiece in tone and rigger work Alan, a beauty.

Lovely tranquil scene beautifully painted, a wonderful place to rest and paint.

Great composition Alan, it looks so peaceful.

Someone - Syd, I think - was asking about acrylic inks the other day, if they could be used wet in wet, merge with each other and so on. Well here's an object lesson in acrylic ink painting - a great subject, skillfully executed with freedom AND precision: not an easy thing to do.

Great immediacy in this one, a fine composition. How do you manage to use ink on location Alan, I'm amazed. I always manage to get myself covered in the stuff, and thats at home! Do you transfer it to small containers beforehand?

Thank you all again, as ever appreciated. Sylvia, thanks and yes of course there is so much out there on our doorstep, I hope that you find something of interest once you are fully mobile again. Yes Robert, it was Syd and I did reply to the thread and enclosed a small sketch of Bottle Kilns painted in acrylic ink for which he thanked me, you get a certain vibrancy with them, well I hope so anyway. Sharon, of course I get covered also, par for the course and I am a messy devil anyway when I'm out and about sketching, however, I do use the pipette on each bottle and put a few drops in a couple of small ramekins, a little goes a long way when diluted with water and I use a very limited palette which also helps.

Lovely contrast in this.

Wonderful painting, Alan, it has all been said.

Lovely painting Alan nice direct approach and in that wonderful medium pen and wash ,great stuff Alan.

You have a great technique Alan and you have produced a terrific picture here, I sketched a church today (with tombstones) some day when this one is on page 99 I might sneak it on!

Thanks for the info Alan, I'll try syphoning off a small amount of each to take with me, see if I can get more on the paper than on me next time.

Beautiful light Alan and I can almost feel the tranquility

That's great delineation, Alan. I like it!

Great. I love the creative use of medium to get the lights and textures.

Painted at the scene yesterday, a subject on my doorstep and one that I have drawn and painted many times. This beautiful Norman church stands in the vast grounds of Sandon Hall and was the private chapel of the Earls of Harrowby, usual MO, straight in with a rigger with acrylic ink, I managed to complete four in total, a worthwhile couple of hours spent in tranquility.
