Nice try, I certainly get the feeling of depth and power. Never tried this subject, will have to give it a go in water colour. As you say, practice and a lot of hard work, makes perfect.

I think this painting is perfect Helen, almost like a photo, clear and crisp :-)

You can feel the waves bashing the rocks. Lovely colours too :)

Not easy, is it..... you'd think it would be, until you try it and realize the sea actually has a shape, and further shapes within it. I had a bash a while ago, and was never satisfied with the result (as in, I tried this sort of waves on rocks view). We must just persist! Triumph will be ours!

Seascapes are very difficult, Helen, I think the seascape artists use quite specialised techniques. You have done well with it, got a real feeling of power in that wave

great comments above i agree with them all very well painted Helen

You've done a super job Helen, there is nothing wrong with that main wave, very powerful.

thankyou for your encouraging comments everyone.

Love the depth of colour you have used, very dramatic.

Tried to think of a word to describe the sea this day and above is what I came up with. Again i have had to try lots of differant colours and textures to give any depth to the block of white wave, lime green, blues pink and turquoise. added white gouash to the brighter parts backed by the lime green. The more i try sea scapes the more i realise what skill those who portray the sea sucessfully hold. Practice makes perfect so I shall keeep on trying.
