Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain has been mentioned above, in a post by Julie Mack.   The actual brain science espoused in that book is very dubious, BUT - it's still a very good book - it helped me to think about mark-making in general in a more intuitive way, and I too would recommend it.  There's a tendency to get too tight and tense with drawing - a fear of 'going wrong', as the intellect struggles with the creative impulse and hobbles it.   On the other hand, many years ago I used to do very precise and laborious drawings - there's a place for those too; but I haven't the patience or the eyesight to do those now; I remember the grey-covered sketchbooks (which of course I've lost!) and my careful work with a sharp Staedtler 4B, with the black and red stripes..... and the Rowney Black Beauty pencils, with their chunky leads and hexagonal shaft: hours of self-absorption ..... !
Regarding the brain science, Robert, I did look into it, being a biologist by training, and a nurse. A lot of studies were done on people whose corpus callosum had been broken (gunshot wounds etc) and a lot of it is pretty right! Language and logic seem to be located in the left brain in most people, and face recognition and whole-ness approaches in the right. The corpus callosum normally allows a flow between them. Just adding to your thoughts😊⚘ And the book is good. We have to escape our logical brain's desire/tendency to name things and stop looking. Methinks.
