Oil pastels - melt risk?

I think at least half the trouble I've had with them is that mine are so old - stopping to think about it, I realized I'd had them for at least 40 years: you can't really expect anything - except maybe regular pastel - to be in good nick after that length of time.  So - encouraged by the success some of you have had with them - I'll buy a nice new set, probably Sennelier, when I next head to the art suppliers.  Having seen others' work in oil pastel, I can readily confirm that they do fine under glass - and I suspect would help us to loosen up in the way we work.
