Sheep poo! :) I took this picture when I was on holiday by the coast in West Wales. It had a lovely iridescence in the sunshine as it moved across the road. I took a picture and then placed it on the grassy verge. I'd never seen anything like this before, I think its a beetle larvae. For something so small it has some interesting shapes within its shape, I think you'll get my meaning there. Thanks for the nod towards the feature about bugs in the LP, spotted that one, Syd, and have posted one of Liz Chaderton's examples in my gallery, when I have time I'll be doing a few more. Just in case you want a peeps, search -CA Jones.

Struggling back to the subject - I think the painting works well. I also think it was an extremely valuable learning exercise. AND - because I know how much my words are treasured, shall venture a few more (adjusts modesty cap) - I think DB does take advice; if he didn't, he wouldn't have got this far: that doesn't mean he needs to subscribe to all of it. Now then - what beetle was that, d'you think?
I don't really know what to say, some of you are well meaning but just jump to the wrong conclusions or entirely miss the point, others are so full of negativity it makes me just want to put down my paint brushes and not even bother. Others illustrate they are more open, and think enough that what they say is useful and perspicacious, or at least intended to be, so to them I tip my hat and thanks for the dialogue. Part of the Dunning-Kruger effect is to think everyone else thinks like you do, (that and being unaware of your own incompetence) and I think I see some of that at work, regardless maybe there are more worthwhile uses of time than entering into discussions that just leave me feeling drained of energy and enthusiasm. Good luck all.

DB - say not the struggle naught availeth, or something similar. Plough on regardless would be another way of putting the same thing.
Daveyboyz, your doing a grand job and you are doing it your way, Keep those brushes busy. Robert, to be honest, I have no idea what it is it just looks beetle-like and may morph into something that looks totally different. My best option is to send the picture to the National History Museum, I would think they'd know. I find it an interesting little thing to look at. It maybe small but it has a cumbersome look to it, reminds me of a baggy old inner tube.
