I've missed you too Syd - look forward to the occasional post and your humour - keep battling soldier - we are all thinking of you.
"Old age is not for cissies", as Bette Davies said. All the best Syd, keep going, and I wish I could see your train-set in action, but Broughty Ferry is a wee bit of a trek from down here.
Best wishes Syd. I hope you get a lot of pleasure from that train set. Take care.
Thank-you Syd, that was enlightening and no I didn't drop off! I realised it wouldn't be a toy, but carelessly used the wrong term. I've looked up your bio and see that you refer to it as a scale railway. I had no idea of the complexity of a scale railway, or the cost and weight of the components, must be a long term interest for you. I hope that you are still able to get many more hours of enjoyment from it. I am now wondering about your garden, as it sounds from your earlier post that you may not be able to do it now. Do you have someone who can do it for you? And are there back-up services in Dundee that you can call on? (Am interested because my 95 year old friend who lives alone, looks after herself and still drives - not out of her local area now though - was quite ill recently and now has some home support services). Anyway, I wish you all the best and hope that your health improves as much as it can. Kind regards, Sandra
Yes, my friend has annual sight checks, and also regular health checks. Basically the only driving she does now is to the supermarket, and to visit and do things for her 101 year old sister who is in a home. Once her sister dies she intends to give up driving. She isn't too much alone, a very good neighbour keeps an eye out for her as do I, and she gets those social services (meals on wheels and some housework) that she was willing to accept - she's pretty independent! She was offered more help but refused it. I'm glad that you have such good carers, and good gardeners, that must really help. Hope you are able to get out soon (btw taxis here are horrendously expensive, there is a service for the elderly though called "Driving Miss Daisy" and she sometimes uses that). Best wishes for improving health. Kind regards, Sandra.
