Well, here is my effort which looked a bit wishy washy so I took Carol's advice and drew around it with pen and that has seemed to improve it. Why is it that sometimes you can do a painting no problem and other times, as I found with this, it all seems to go wrong!! I'm beginning to think that coloured pencils are not so suitable for flower work after all so I'll probably do any further flowers with watercolours. I've painted loads of Iris's before but just couldn't get this right.
Sylvia, I must say that you have a beautiful garden and the second photo of your pond looks amazing but I don't think I would like to tackle all the greens!!!
Jen, I do hope that you are feeling much better soon. Hopefully the B12 and vitd will do what they're meant to.
Decided to have a quick stab at Sylvia's Lily pond in the sort of abstract impressionistic style I like to use. This is the result. Small, just 8 x 6 inches in watercolour.
Love it Jim. I really like your impressionist style and lovely colours.
After my attempt at peonies, I am not sure I shall ever do flowers again! they don't speak to me. I do appreciate other people's excellent works of them though.
Well done Lesley for having a go, too many greens for me!!
This post has produced some excellent work - I'd like to have a go at the second photo myself (because I quail before the prospect of painting an Iris - but this is just the sort of thing Sylvia herself can paint, with strong colours and big brush: do you have the time at the moment to have a go yourself?).
Love your fish Sylvia, they're making me feel quite hungry!
Bit late with this - make hay while the sun shines :) A lovely response to your pictures, Sylvia. here is my effort, wish I'd been a lot more flamboyant with the lily pads. Chinese brush using crushed inktense blocks on (X)shuan paper, no mercy with this paper.
