Hi All,
Im an artist and picture framer here in Belfast. Ive recently started making large Fixed Stretcher Bars (Strainers Ive heard them called if they are fixed). Im wondering how different artists prefer these to be built? I use American dried pine so it won't twist and Build crossbars using good old fashioned wood work and pocket screws to join them to the frames. I'm increasingly being asked for larger 5-6 foot Sq bars and building double cross bars for rigidity and strength. Can any artists on this forum give me an idea of how they like them to be built or do you prefer to buy off the shelf? many thanks David at Turner Framing Belfast. www.turnerframing.co.uk
