Shades and Shadows

Sunday drawing classes - 11 Another Sunday, another drawing class We are discussing and practicing rapid sketches and shading. Before starting, close one eye and see the object carefully to find out shades and shadows. I'am sure you can realize the difference between two eyes' view and one eye view. When you draw directly from the object or a photograph, it is very helpful to create shades and shadows. When you copy a painting, no need to find out where the shades and shadows are. Because the artist of that original painting has already done it. After rapid and final sketch, mark the shaded and shadowed area with some lines. With the cross hatching, fill the place. Then, draw the object again and fill it with conventional shading. Take a look at the youtube video on my channel to understand better. On the very first day of our tutorials, I told you not to move the drawing board, which helps to draw better lines. It should be fixed in one position. One more thing, also remember that you should not change your own position too. To see the work or object more clearly, most of us do that. It's not a proper practice. Because "Eye Level" can change the position of shades and shadows. This may entirely change the character of your paintings. This will be discussed next week.
