Great thanks to Robert Jones for the helpful critique. I had already thought the whole thing was just too bland but wasnt sure which bit needed more strength. As you point out , the brush strokes, using the paint and other technical stuff definitely have to be practised. ! really enjoyed using oil paint so I shall keep going. I shant try to alter this painting now but keep it to look back on when hopefully things have improved.
