A slight change of direction

I was originally a textile artist, specialising in landscape embroidery. I had numerous one-woman exhibitions and taught landscape embroidery. Twelve years ago I moved to the West Country and have taken part in Open Studios almost every year since then. Two years ago I decided I would like to challenge myself and began to attend art classes to learn to paint landscapes in watercolour. I struggle at times, in particular when depicting trees but I hope that a better understanding of painting will in turn enhance my embroideries as I paint the backgrounds before I begin to stitch. We live in a particularly beautiful part of the country so I am never short of inspiration for my work.
