A Portrait of my Queen

I painted this portrait whilst I was looking at a blurry photo of my wife on my phone. It now hangs in our living room and she as well as everyone else is pleased with it. What do you think?

I avoid using grids and I don't make preliminary sketches either. I just paint straight away, sometimes starting with the background.

works well for you, I tend to be the same unless there is a tricky face to recreate in which case I will trace the main features. Happy painting.
