Imelda Deheer
Biography
I am moved to create art from seeing nature, cinematic scenes, reading science fiction novels and the experience of raw emotions in relation to contact with others; looking to capture an essence of these experiences in my minds eye with the hope of retaining the beauty that I was initially captured by . My graphic design training influences my design and painting process; this produces the clean lines and bold colours that I often create. Being born in the 70's keeps me grounded in nature and the value of craftsmanship. Being a teenager in the 80's I discovered the world of computers and technology through films such as Tron and felt the wonder of the possibilities in shape and colour these could produce, even though I didn't see or use a computer until the 90's! My work brings together a love of wildlife, technicolor, technology and creating pieces of work that have an underlying spiritual feeling in choosing what to paint.
