Biography

Like a lot of artists on this site I came to art late in life! I loved art growing up and was offered a place at Bournville College of Art at age 19 but sadly could not take up the place and for the following 45 years had a range of careers including sales, recruitment, secretarial - all of which I hated and lasted 2 years max in each!! Fast forward (like so many here!) to the pandemic and thoughts of retirement and at least all those jobs had amassed me some pensions (very small I hasten to add - 9 of them!) so since my husband had retired 6 months earlier decided to join him and picked up my paintbrushes once again! I absolutely love watercolours although would love to learn pastels too. I love all animals and by chance the lady who looks after my cat Nellie saw a painting I’d done of Nellie and asked if I could paint her dog 🐶 ……. So I thought I’d give it a whirl and have just finished my 18th dog portrait painting!! I love loose, splashy watercolours and abstracts and particularly Tom Shepherd’s style. I follow a lot of tutorials and find them invaluable. I’m looking forward to participating in this site and learning and growing art with like minded artists 👩‍🎨 👨‍🎨
