Suggested materials

Watercolours

  • French Ultramarine
  • Winsor Blue GS (Phthalo Blue GS and Intense Blue are the same)
  • Cerulean Blue
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Quinacridone Magenta (or any purple red)
  • Winsor Red (or any orange red Pyrrol Red, Cadmium Red)
  • Indian Yellow (or any orange yellow such as New Gamboge)
  • Winsor Yellow (or any green yellow such as lemon yellow, azo yellow, aureolin, primary yellow)
  • Burnt Sienna
  • White Gouache

Brushes

  • Mop or hake or soft flat for big washes (Grahame uses Princeton Neptune)
  • Size 10-14 round (Grahame uses Princeton Aqua Elite)
  • Size 7 round (Grahame uses Princeton Aqua Elite)
  • Small swordliner or rigger or reservoir brush (Grahame uses Princeton Aqua Elite size 10 rigger)

Paper

  • Quarter sheet (28 x 38cm or 11 x 16”) or thereabouts
  • Good quality watercolour paper. Grahame will use Millford and Saunders Waterford NOT paper from St. Cuthberts Mill
