Started with the sky, with board reversed and using light red and cobalt blue.

Continued to establish the bridge and barge.

Then the river, with a cobalt blue and Payne’s grey mix, and the foreshore, using up what was in my palette, but with plenty of raw sienna.

Added some strength to the water below the building, spent time and care painting the line of trees and buildings above the bridge - a combination of hard and soft edges. (An accurate initial pencil drawing of this area will help with the small shapes).

Continued the trees above the bridge, and using a dagger brush loosely painted the foliage of the trees on the right side.

Gave it the mantlepiece test, resulting in time spent making corrections and adjustments. Created a bit of interest in the foreground to break the line of the embankment.
