Very interesting explanation of your painting Alan. I’m pleased to know that you also do initial painting from your car. I mentioned I did this to a local professional artist recently and she was horrified at the thought of getting a dab of paint on the car! I particularly like your description of building up layers of sky etc.. I really like the composition with the trees on the right, and the sky and distance with church are particularly good. We were discussing in class this week the need to draw and paint preparatory work, rather than just plunging into a painting, and I plan to do more of this, so your article has reminded me of that need! Very good article and an excellent painting.
