Pastel on Canson paper. 40cms x 30cms A first attempt at pastel painting- using the lovely pastels received as a Christmas present. I did a pastel and water underpainting and then worked the picture on top of that . The underpainting gives unusual graduated effects which help to give the painting depth. Worked from a photo taken when we were in Canada last year...driving along the Ice Road
