I agree with you Susan. Good portrait , Susan. The Zorn palette is amazing and you can change it subtly depending on the black or red used. Your portrait has pale skin tones, which I used for my recent portrait of my granddaughter. When I painted my daughter I was able to mix a different flesh tone. I ' m into doing more portraits at the moment and mixing all the " nuances" of flesh tones. Quite exciting!

Lovely portrait and interesting palette. I don’t know what you would do if the subject had bright pale blue eyes.

Fab portrait and really good example of what can be achieved with the Zorn palette

Excellent portrait Susan

A charming portrait, Susan.

Amazing results with just four colours. No wonder you are achieving such success when you do not limit your palette.

Thanks Marjorie, I fully agree, it is exciting working through the endless possibilities with the Zorn palette. Thank you Linda, unfortunately, blues, greens and purples can't be mixed with a Zorn palette, but there's nothing to stop you trying a limited palette. Many thanks Heather, Russell, Anne and Steve for your kind comments. As ever, all your comments are most encouraging and very much appreciated.

A very interesting portrait using the Zorn palette Susan. palette

Super portrait Susan and interesting to read about your choice of palette, it’s certainly enabled you to create some wonderful tones.

Thanks a lot Carole and Fiona for your very encouraging comments, they're much appreciated.

This is my first attempt at painting a portrait using a Zorn palette. Painted in acrylic using 4 colours only, yellow ochre, titanium white, mars black and cadmium red light. The Zorn palette of just 4 colours is attributed to the great Swedish artist Anders Zorn (b.1860 - 1920). I thoroughly enjoyed painting this and was amazed at how many colour combinations could be achieved.
