‘Pulpit Rock - Portland, Dorset’

Love that surf against those rich blues and lovely golds and siennas Shaun.

I’ve not really tried oil sticks, apart from a couple of samples sent to me. This is really stunning Shaun, such bold but not bright colours!

Thank you Carole - good to hear from you.

Thank you Alan - I have used ‘lock down’ to work outside my usual comfort zone. Oil sticks do get some getting used to but I enjoy the spontaneity of applying marks and they combine well with oil paint. Your most recent painting is exceptional!!

This conveys power and magnitude Shaun.....strong and solid with the palette to match.

Thank you Fiona - it’s really encouraging when a fellow artist understands what you are trying to achieve.

Hang on Studio Wall

Oil sticks and oil paint on gesso board. 16x15ins *my apologies for re posting this painting - I was unhappy with the quality of the last image.

About the Artist
Shaun Byatt

I try to achieve vibrant colours in my paintings. I work intuitively with large flat brushes - I also try not to overwork my pictures and they are often completed in two sittings. I use good quality acrylics because of their excellent pigment content. I like to interpret what i see in front of me…
