View from the dunes

Oh to be by the seaside! I really like the way you’ve painted the grasses on the dunes with a sense of movement Sarah. Good one.

Thank you Tessa! Think I was subconsciously yearning for hot summer days by the sea when I put this on! Thanks again.

I’m there....lovely warm sand under my feet, sunshine on my face and the gentle lap of the sea.....I don’t want to wake up! Really like the way you’ve painted the dunes Sarah.

Thanks Fiona - think I must have holidays on my mind after yesterday's announcement!

Hi Sarah, you asked about the sugar paper.....it’s a really heavy duty, almost card thickness paper that I use for oil sketches. I don’t prime it at all, just paint straight on to it. You can stretch it if you want to before painting on it but I don’t bother normally.

Sarah, that’s exactly what it does! The paper seems to suck the oil out of the paint and it does dry, not chalky exactly, but flat matt kind of look. The paint dries really quickly too, even the titanium white, which takes an age to dry on canvas, dries quick.
