Igloo on the slopes of Duval.

14 x 22 inch watercolour and pencil on paper. I painted this at - 16. The paint ( winsor and Newton whole pans ) are fine but the water freezes on contact with the paper. It's more a case of shunting plateletes of ice round the paper before they stick in place. The Herring plastic palette is so nice to use, and, unlike a metal one, does not stick to my hands at the temperatures.
