Silent Crucifixion

14 x 22 watercolour on Langton 300lb rough paper, unstretched. This is one of three interior studies made upstairs in Charterhouse Priory in Coventry. If you have time, please take at the others in this gallery. It depicts a fragment of a once extensive mural depicting the Crucifixion in all its bloody horror. I especially enjoyed depicting the graded tones of the bare walls and the distorting effects of linear perspective on the curved forms of the figures depicted on the painted fragment.
