I painted this on the hottest day of the year - so far - while standing in the ruins of what were the kitchens in Kenilworth Castle. I wanted this to be an airy, light painting and so the sunlit part of the wall had to be painted very sparingly in both colour and tone. My main reservation is that the composition is a bit restless, lacking a firm focal point.
