Wonderful painting, Rupert, lovely atmosphere and great touch of light.

You sound disappointed with your oils Rupert, I think they are timeless. Your watercolours are brilliant but your oils are special. I still remember the oils you did of the red cabbage and the dead Magpie, that's what your oils do, they stay in the memory.

8 x 12 inch oil on plywood. This was the second sketch I did at Orton on the Hill yesterday but again, I felt I got rather bogged down with the oil paints. I suppose that it's just a question of practice in order to go forward. By the time this painting was nearing the end, the church seemed to fill with bees which whizzed around me like bullets.
