As he was the last of his kind, it was never really going to work was it? Despite the sad story which I'm not too sure whether to believe, it's a good drawing. He does look sad and rather anxious. Poor old George.

Awwwww, I read that news story. Always felt sorry for him

He does look a sad, lonely chappie, you have captured that expression well.

What a sad story, lets hope there are lots of his kind where he's gone to. Excellent memorial Robert.

A beautifully sad drawing Robert. Poor George, so old and lonely. I'm glad that you drew him.

I agree with the above comments, Robert. He is looking so sad and lonely. I really feel sorry for him, looking at your beautiful drawing. I didn't know that story. Please read my comment on Alan's new challenge and thanks to put it to my attention on the forum.

How sad. But a lovely drawing and an apt memorial.

Quick drawing in carbon pencil of Lonesome George, the last of his kind, who died yesterday aged - so they think - about 100. I suspect, given the many failed attempts to help him to breed, that he was probably a bit older than that, and just not up to it. The last of the Pinta Island giant tortoises.
