It looks far from rough to me John, I love the tones and light and shade and also his expression, he looks rather troubled. He is also rather ‘ansum!

Love this John. He looks like a very handsome gladiator with a very deep, contemplative expression. I also admire the unusual, semi profile, stance.

You're certainly making very good 'practice' if this is an example. I also like the very visible brush strokes. Excellent work.
