From my perspective this is your most interesting work to date John. A surreal image of the relationship between man and dog in a multi-coloured rainbow dreamworld of priests, swallows and amazons. I absolutely love it.

Oh no not dreaming of priests Michael, but all the imagery is part of my life. Thank you for your input it's appreciated.

Less is more John. Like the rainbow, Echo represents a guiding light, hope and unconditional love. Love the rainbow braces, the vibrant blues, the stream meandering gently through the green fields with the swallows and the butterflies. Painted with lots of love. Training to be a monk, hmmm lol.

Thank you Mary. I had better put things straight. Training to be a monk is a sort of way of saying I do not have so much hair as I used to. Hope that is clear as I do not belong to and do not wish to belong to any religious organisation.

I'm not putting any interpretation on this John, just saying it's an exciting piece. I like the fact that you attack subjects in different ways.

Thank you Marjorie your comment is appreciated.

All things bright and beautiful John....without any religious link, but what does the dark rain cloud on the horizon signify?

Thank you Fiona. The dark clouds are the showers we offen encounter. The rainbow although a metaphorical symbol is also fact. Because one day were on a hill and right over us was the biggest rainbow I have ever seen. It was so big we may as well been it. Maybe we was everything seemed illuminated.

Echo is a lucky boy to have a dad with such an imagination .the rain had stopped sunshine followed poor dad had stopped applying regaine on his crown never the less he is seen here surveying his monarchy lol gold star performance

Never used it David, But thank you for your input it is always appreciated.

Very interesting John. Bright and lovely too. Nice story behind the piece. I do love the birds.

Love that rainbow John, looks very 3D. Braces are great! Painting really lovely and Echo fantastic. I think you once mentioned that Echo was a "working dog" so I am assuming he helps you in life!

Thank you Adale. Echo is a hearing dog. He has been with me seven years.

Oil on canvas 20 x 20 inches. I wanted to say something about life with my dog Echo. At first I thought to pack the painting with all sorts of detail. But on second thought and leaving the painting lying around for about 14 months I came up with this, keeping it simple. Its from imagination which i do not usually do. Yes They are my braces, yes I am practicing to be a monk. Yes my favourite colour is blue. I am not sure I am as wide as that, but once I got the figure down on canvas, I said “let it stay.” The rainbow was done by placing seven colours on a piece of card and just pulling it round in a curve. And yes I do wear rainbow braces. Not my usual, but the painting says what I wanted to say thats the important thing.
