I like this John but prefer the detail version.

The detail pic was needed to fully appreciate it John. A series of well spaced horizontal strips works superbly, giving an interesting backdrop to a rather good oil painting. Love the pheasants also.

A very appropriate format for this piece John, it looks wonderful. Got them in the garden at the moment, they hide behind plants and bushes and then screech off as I walk past!

Well...who am i to judge, John!!! I'm no expert but i really love it, although i do feel that the detail you've posted is tighter and I prefer it

Thank you Sandra, Alan, Carole, and Thalia Your feedback is appreciated. The painting needs to be seen actual size really, it all looks cramped in here.

Love this. A very different composition from the norm, but it works beautifully. Just great.

I think it works brilliantly John, I can't see any warts! I'm glad you included the detailed shot as it illustrates just how skilful you are.

Beautiful in every respect John, marks, colours and an unusual composition which works.

I like it John but feel that the bottom two left pheasants get lost a bit but then I'm no expert. Sorry, I don't how I've got the audacity to criticise such a good painter as you, I'll now go away and hang my head in shame :)

Thank you Lewis, Russell, Marjorie, and Val. Val your input is most valid. Thank you all I feel somewhat better about the painting now.

I like the background, and those lovely pheasants, I saw a few of these on my travels last week. But unfortunately I was driving. It's good to no they can be painted beautifully.

It’s a great format for the subject John, and it’s beautifully painted. Good idea to post the close up so we can appreciate the complexity of the detail.

Thank you Lesley and Fiona, your feedback is appreciated.

I can't see a problem with this John, I like it very much. It was good to see the detailed piece to see the skill that's been put into this lovely painting.

No warts in this painting, great stuff!

I see no warts John. Beautiful painting in a perfect format. Lovely layering of colours.

Oil on Canvas Box Frames. Size 40x16 inches, 102x41CM. Never been happy about this painting. I did a small version with one pheasant which I really liked and that one got sold. The large piece just does not seem to have the rhythm I was looking for. Anyway here it is warts and all as they say. Because of compression due to the large size a lot of detail is lost so I have included a detail shot as well.
