Texas Reunion
Charcoal and graphite on Canson Mi Teintes paper. This is a commission which has taken me about a month to do. Drawn freehand from an old black and white photograph it is a family gathering in Texas in the 1950s. The same families are reuniting this year and the client wanted it drawn ready for that. It's amazing that he found me but he saw some of my charcoal sports drawings and wanted it done in the same style. Some of the characters I have come to love, particularly the chap on the telephone (why is he on a telephone in a family photograph?) and others have quite frustrated me but artistically I have learnt so much from this very challenging drawing
