A good sketch Denise, what an awful time these fellows had. Did you use wax resist or is it dry brush marks on the wooden beams?

Another good one of mining!!

Well Carole, it's that brown stuff you get in the charcoal box, I don't know what it is, it works the same as charcoal, looks like charcoal, it's just brown.

Good sketch Denise not an easy one to do I don't think but I'm sure you will pull it off.

Looks good Denise , the ochre is a excellent colour fir the beams and adds a lot of interest to the sketch. You have made it look quite deep towards the back well done 👍

Love your figures Denise

This is very good! Nicely balanced and a couple of interesting characters! It’ll make a great painting if you follow the same path Denise.

I like your mine drawings Denise, they remind me of the Ashington group of painters - the Pitmen Painters I think they were known as. Good for you to illustrate our mining heritage.

Good composition Denise. Good luck with the painting!

Thanks for your lovely comments Carole, David, Chris, Paul, Romila, Sarah and Marjorie.

This is a great painting of historical interest, much like the Ashington painters. Such appropriate colours Denise.

Looking good Denise, you have a real sense of underground and hard labour (like that little pit pony on the far left too)

Will make an interesting painting from this delightful sketch.

As the son and grandson of a miner Denise, I love it.

Thanks Carole, Heather, Stephen and Michael, much appreciated.

Lovely sketch Denise

The opportunities for showing how the light from their headlamps falls on their surroundings is really exciting!

Great representation of the tough conditions Denise.

Love this, Denise, so expressive! The brown 'stuff' is probably Conte crayon, I suspect!!!
