Palette Knife Painting.

You have captured this still life in a charming and simplistic way with your pallette knife Denise. Excellent.

That is very good indeed! Your use of the palette knife is outstanding!!

Wow Denise. Amazing 👏 you have come so far !@

Denise, google colour mixes for copper - pink features quite a bit. The only other thing I’d say is calm down the background a bit, it’s fighting with the objects. Otherwise, you’ve done rather well here.

So lovely still life! You have used the pallette knifes so nicely with granular details, Denise!

Much appreciated Chris, David, Faye, Marjorie and Manoj. Thanks Marjorie, I wouldn't have thought to use pink, I will take a look.

A very good still life Denise , you are really getting the hang of the knives . They format is really good and has been put together very well .I can see what Marjorie is saying re the background, but non the less it a really good painting. Far better than I could manage , your very brave to tackle these things.

Brilliant palette knife work Denise, especially the copper pot. Love the shadows and the way the light catches on the objects.

Very impressive Denise x

Great work with the knife, Denise, especially the vase and green apple on the right. I'll bet you felt liberated and a sense of low using the knife. When I use it, I have to stop myself thinking of how much paint I'm using (canny Scot syndrome).

Very, very good, love it Denise, super palette knife work

Have never tried using a palette knife, looks difficult to me,might have a go one day but don't think i would make such a good job of it as you

You have modelled the objects really well with your palette knives. I don’t quite understand the background though. It looks as though it is really close to the apple with reflections of the apple colour. But it looks far away from the copper pot.

Love the richness Denise, beautifully done.

Thanks for your kind comments Paul, Carole, Diane, Ron, Heather, Anne, Linda and Carole. Linda there is no rhyme or reason I learn as I paint. I try things a lot of the time, I don't get them right. I have a very rare condition which causes visual distortions and on top of that, astygmas, so depth perception and shadows are a real toughy for me but I hope I get them right some of the time.

Love the copper pot/base Denise, you are making great headway with the knives.

A fine painting Denise, I especially like the two apples.

Thanks very much Fiona and Russell.

That should be astigmatism Linda not astygmas.

Done in oil on a canvas board. I've been practising with palette knives all week. Had a try at a copper pot. Not sure if I've achieved it. I'll carry on with the knives over the weekend then get back to the brushes.
